SN AXIS — Privacy Policy

Summary

SN AXIS is a Bluetooth tool for the AXIS Smart Knob Shifter hardware. It does not create accounts, does not transmit personal data to our servers, does not use analytics, and does not embed third-party trackers or advertising SDKs. The app speaks only to your own AXIS device over Bluetooth Low Energy, plus a single anonymous network request to a public GitHub Pages URL to check for firmware updates.

What the app accesses on your phone

Bluetooth. Required to discover and connect to AXIS devices. The app scans only for devices advertising the AXIS GATT service UUID (7e1c0001-9b3a-4f8e-8a5b-9d2e1f3a7c6d); it does not look at or log any other Bluetooth peripheral.
Photo library and camera roll (when you tap "Choose photo / video" inside the Screensaver page). The file you pick is read by your phone's web view, processed locally to fit the 240 × 240 AXIS display, and transferred straight to your AXIS device over Bluetooth. The file is never uploaded to any server.
Local storage. The Bluetooth device ID of the AXIS you last paired with is stored in your phone's web localStorage so the next launch can re-pair with one tap. You can clear it by clearing site data in your browser (or by uninstalling the app on iOS).

What leaves your phone

BLE traffic to your own AXIS device. All settings, calibration, telemetry, and screensaver / firmware uploads flow over the local BLE link only. They do not pass through any server we operate.
Firmware update check. The OTA page fetches https://snmotorsport01.github.io/axis-companion/firmware/index.json to read the current firmware manifest, and if you tap INSTALL it downloads the corresponding .bin from the same host. This is a static, public GitHub Pages site. The request contains the standard HTTP details (your IP address, user agent) — we do not log or process those beyond GitHub's own server logs, which we do not control.

What the app does NOT do

It does not use Google Analytics, Firebase, Sentry, Crashlytics, Meta Pixel, AppsFlyer, or any other analytics / crash / ad SDK.
It does not create user accounts. There is nothing to sign in to.
It does not access contacts, calendar, location, microphone, health data, or any other phone sensor outside of Bluetooth.
It does not collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, or IDFA / IDFV.
It does not sell or share data with third parties because it does not collect data to sell.

Children

SN AXIS is not directed at children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect any information from any user; the same applies to children.

Data retention

The only data the app stores is the most-recent BLE device ID (kept locally in your browser / iOS app sandbox). It is retained until you uninstall the app or clear its site data. Nothing is retained on our side because nothing is sent to our side.

Your rights

If you are in the EU/UK/Thailand/California or any jurisdiction with a data-subject-rights regime: because we do not collect personal data, there is no data on file for us to access, correct, port, or delete. To delete your locally-stored device ID, uninstall the app or clear its site data.

Changes to this policy

If we change the policy materially we will update the effective date at the top of this page and bump the in-app version note. Continued use after a change means you accept the new policy.
